Central Coast Comedy Theater has been operating since 2016.
Hundreds of improv players have joined us to take classes, workshops and perform in shows.
On this page you’ll see pictures from student shows, team shows, and our annual Improv Playoffs. As we say at the shows, if it looks like we’re having a good time, it is because we are! Come join us!

Teams
We currently have two ‘official’ teams at CCCT in addition to a few ‘Indy’ teams who have sprung up. Teams rehearse together twice a month and perform regularly around San Luis Obispo. We hold occasional auditions for our teams and also have informal movement within the teams when there’s an opening. If you’re an improver who thinks they’d like to be part of a performing team, send us a note and let’s talk!
The Ensemble
The Ensemble is our more seasoned players, typically improvers who have been with the school for several years. They perform monthly (or more) and like to explore different long form styles like The Herald in addition to short form games. You’ll often see the Ensemble performing their improv magic at the SLO Public Market and other venues around San Luis Obispo.
The House Team(s)
The House Team (or teams) is a collection of improvers who take classes and love to play and grow their improv skills. (We’ve been known to create more than one House Team if there’s a lot of interest in participating.) The House Team typically explores new short form games and tries out different long form styles. Currently, the House Team is into narrative long form. You’ll find the House Team performing at Bang the Drum Brewery and The Bunker.
Indy Teams
Sometimes when you’re in an improv class, you really click with a few other people. And then sometimes these people decide create their own teams to dive deeper into certain improv styles. At CCCT we encourage this because we love improv! We have had Indy teams who specialize in all different kinds of improv comedy. Our Indy teams join our House and Ensemble teams to entertain crowds with improv shenanigans all over San Luis Obispo county. We also have a monthly indy team improv show we call the Improv Extravaganza. If you’re on an improv team and want to perform, fill out the Improv Extravaganza interest form and we’ll try to get you up on the stage!
